In the American TV and streaming market, several new streaming services have appeared here at the beginning of 2020, and they compete in many ways for the same customers. Although there is room for several players, it is expected that in the near future there will be a separation race, where households will choose something in order to gain access to something new.
Under one, this situation is referred to as streaming wars, which really broke out in the United States when Disney+ opened in November 2019. On the other hand, Warner Media has given birth to HBO Max, an amalgamation of the well-known HBO and lots of content from the Warner group's archives, as well as new things. In addition, NBCUniversal has launched Peacock, which offers volumes of content from Universal's archives, and television series and shows from NBC.
In addition to this, there are a number of other smaller streaming services, as well as Hulu, which is currently controlled by the Disney group. At the same time, we have Apple with their AppleTV+, both with offers and bringing together several streaming services in one (so far only in the US), and a number of high-profile new TV series and feature films (Apple Originals). And not least Amazon with their Prime Video service, which Amazon is continuously ramping up, most recently with the global launch of the widely popular Borat: The Subsequent Movie, which is 100% funded by Amazon.
All these new services are putting pressure on Netflix, which has otherwise been very dominant in the streaming market, and they will all go global, and also hit the Nordics in the near future. In this post, the most significant players are reviewed, their size and strategies, market situation and what we can expect from them in the near future.

Wilke presents a completely fresh user survey that partly maps the Danish TV and streaming market here and now, partly goes in depth with Disney+.
How have the Danes received Disney+ – how do they subscribe, what has motivated them, have they canceled other streaming services, what do they watch and how is Disney+ experienced in general in the household?
Mette Stensbek Christensen from Wilke will give us a fresh and exciting insight into this and much more.

Christian Monggaard, writer and film editor at Dagbladet Information
What does American Disney really mean for Danish film culture? After all, Disney has been here for many decades, and most of us have grown up with a great love for the Disney universe, which, on top of that, has always spoken Danish to us.
Author, film editor and Disney connoisseur Christian Monggaard talks about his view of what Disney has meant to our film culture over the years, and how deep the group's universe is in many of us. Disney has both provided us with many experiences, as well as inspired local Danish filmmakers over the years.
And how has Christian Monggaard himself, who loves Disney, experienced gaining access to large parts of their archives with Disney+? And what is missing, and what does he think we should expect from Disney+ in the future.
