Introductory text – Claus Bülow Christensen, founder of Copenhagen Future TV Conference, worked as development director for Metronome in 1996, where together with the company's founder and director, Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, he wrote this article about why the Internet is good for a company; with emails and easy communication - and how the internet will become very important for the media industry in the near future.
Body - In 1995 I got a job as development director for Metronome, Bent Fabricius-Bjerre's extensive and award-winning media empire. It was one of the greatest joys of my career to work with him and his family – he was already a living legend, and I loved his blend of supreme creativity, skillful merchandising and visionary thinking.
During my time as development director, we launched several exciting projects, and I got the company on the Internet, we got a website and we got email to all the employees, and I got the opportunity to make Denmark's first website for a feature film, namely the Lars von Trier film "Breaking The Waves".
It was a wonderful time, with all the chaos the introduction of new things can bring in a solid company, but everyone was so positive. Together with Bent, I wrote this article in 1996 about all the advantages of having a company on the Internet, and about all the many opportunities the future Internet would bring in media, interactivity, film and TV!
Here we are photographed for the article in my basement office on Søndermarksvej in Valby, where Metronome was based for many years.
Thanks for welcoming a young technology idealist back then, Bent – and thanks for all the music.
