Wilke
New Wilke analysis – on understanding the media consumer of the future
Wilke will again this year present at the Future TV conference with exciting new insights into Danes' media behaviour. For several years, Wilke has shed light on the development of Danes' TV viewing on Future TV, and thus the progress of streaming services.
At the conference in 2017, Wilke concluded that a full 84% of the Danish population streams live images, and that streaming has now become a natural part of Danes' media behaviour.
This year, Wilke takes a new temperature measurement of the development and brings the latest figures on the Danes' use of TV and streaming services, and zooms in on the Danes' experience of the enormous range of services and the opportunities to put together their own "entertainment universe".
At the same time, Wilke puts special focus on the young viewers, in order to understand the media consumer of the future and their way of accessing and consuming content.

Streaming in the Nordics approaching saturation – how do local companies compete with US giants?
The range of attractive content for Nordic TV viewers has exploded since Netflix was launched in October 2012. Since then, other American streaming services have also been added.
Mediavision has mapped the development and has, among other things, concluded that the largest players, Netflix, HBO Nordic and Amazon Prime Video together offer over 7.000 titles, corresponding to more than 30.000 hours of content. It will take four years to see it all!
What does this development mean for our Nordic TV market?
Get an in-depth insight into Mediavision's latest analyzes of the entire Nordic TV and streaming market from CEO, Marie Nilsson.
Times are changing and so is the Nordic media landscape. Digital consumers today are experiencing a greater freedom than ever before. In parallel, both traditional media companies and distributors are challenged by the US giants.
For the Nordic companies it is all about developing sustainable new strategies; which position is relevant and how to differentiate? Being a local player is clearly challenging, even more so as this highly digital market is now approaching saturation.
But there are also great opportunities, for those willing to take them. We will take a close look at:

Colin Dixon is back in Copenhagen with fresh perspectives on the most significant developments within the international industry of television and streaming.
Television audiences and engagement are declining. Those people who once spent hours glued to their favorite channel now spend their time binge watching on SVOD services.
What can flow TV providers do to make themselves more competitive with new OTT services?
This session will look at the challenges facing the television industry and what TV companies are doing about it. We will try to answer the question: How can flow TV providers win their audiences back?
Finally, we will look at a new data from the company Conviva, characterizing how our viewing behaviors have changed over the last 3 years.
Taking a look at some fundamental shifts in the last few months, this session will cover the following companies and issues:
For the last part of the session, Colin Dixon will be joined on stage by Ed Haslam from Conviva, as they launch the second edition of a true, complete census of one of the world's largest multi-publisher streaming video sensor networks.

WW Lead – Watson & Cloud Platform, IBM
Are you an opportunist or a victim?
Empowered consumers living in an increasingly digital world are expecting and demanding more from an industry that is facing rapid adoption of connected devices and increasing numbers of apps, which are influencing how users consume media.
To thrive amid the chaos of change, Media & Entertainment industry leaders must be smarter in how they approach data, more specifically implementing AI such as IBM Watson.
Today, many of these conversations are broadening, as cognitive computing is touted by some as revolutionary for media, entertainment and society in general. Cognitive-based systems can build knowledge, understand natural language and provide confidence-weighted responses at cloud speed.
Machine learning systems can quickly identify new patterns and insights, giving M&E industry leaders improved capabilities to discover, decide and engage. Increased engagement between M&E companies and their audiences can improve communication and collaboration, which in turn can aid development of more tailored and effective services and better customer experiences.
An environment is created in which hard earned experience parsed with new tools and insights allows an industry to pivot and so, "The Empire Strikes Back" against the so-called "industry disruptors".
Cloud offers uncompromising agility and in parallel, IBM's AI, known as Watson, can help expose and act upon deep business insights for competitive advantage.
With nearly 20 years of international experience in IT and including some 8 years leading IBM Cloud, Doug has seen and helped tackle most industry issues and brings SME passion to drive TM&E forward despite the exciting turbulence and threats from emerging disruptors.
A Serial Intrapreneur, prior to joining IBM via PwC, Doug's held Director roles in Marketing, Sales, Distribution and Process Improvement in 2 industry Blue Chips, so brings experience that underpins his passion in Tech and his eminence as a Cloud thought leader – Doug won Cloud Personality of the Year in the 2016 UK Cloud Industry Awards.

Michael Harboe
Virsabi
Virtual Reality – part of future TV? - Part 1
Virtual Reality has developed extensively in recent years and has often been predicted to become the next immersive medium when we one day tire of television.
But how far has the technology come and what can we expect in the future? How do you actually work with developing virtual reality productions? And what is happening on the hardware market for VR, what is pushing the spread of hardware?
The Danish company Virsabi has developed a large number of prototypes on various virtual reality platforms and technologies and gives us an insight into what you can do with the technology.
Virsabi will have a virtual reality equipment setup in the front hall, where participants at the Copenhagen Future TV Conference will have the opportunity to try out some of today's virtual reality options for themselves.
One of the cases Virsabi is involved in is a collaboration between Bang & Olufsen, the Danish artist Oh Land and Virsabi. An in-store virtual reality marketing activity that we also need to hear about – and experience.

Martin Wichmann Andersen
Los Angeles California
Virtual Reality – part of future TV? - Part 2
Martin Wichmann Andersen has created, written and produced the VR 360 series Campfire Creepers, directed by horror master Alex Aja (The Hills Have Eyes), and with, among others, Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elmstreet films).
It is the first major project that uses the dramaturgical narrative form to bring the ultimate experience of the future to the viewers. An immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience where you find yourself in the middle of the action.
Campfire Creepers premiered in April at this year's Tribeca Film Festival in New York and is produced by the leading VR company Oculus.
360 degree VR video is not an interactive experience like e.g. computer games with VR, but a traditional production such as film, documentary and sports, where you as a spectator can completely immerse yourself in the universe of the story.
The medium is still in an early stage, but in Martin's presentation we will hear why he is convinced, with his experiences from the film and television industry, that there is huge potential for future television.
Martin Wichmann Andersen
Film & TV Director / Writer / Editor / Teacher
Martin has worked as a director, screenwriter, editor and photographer in the Danish TV industry since 1995 before moving to Los Angeles in 2009.
After completing his directing training at The American Film Institute (AFI), he wrote and directed feature films and TV series for, among others, Google, Blackpills and Fireaxe Pictures.
He has recently sold his TV series HATE to A&E Networks and wrote and produced the 360 VR series CAMPFIRE CREEPERS, directed by horror master Alexandra Aja.

Ole christian madsen
Creative Alliance
Danish filmmakers and the international streaming development
We have invited the Danish film director Ole Christian Madsen to a conversation about his experience of the development of streaming services, put in perspective to his many years of experience as a director of significant feature films and TV series in both Denmark and the USA.
There is talk of a golden age for TV series, and we see the streaming giants attracting the biggest creative personalities – including the Danish ones. The film and television industry is in the midst of a paradigm shift, where the rules of the game are changing, and this has great significance for the production environment.
But what is bad and what is good? How is it working with American TV series compared to Danish TV series and feature films? Will the great demand for film and TV talent drain Denmark of the best names? And to what extent will the big streaming giants invest in the production of films and TV series in a country like Denmark?
Ole christian madsen
Film director, Creative Alliance
Ole Christian Madsen is known for i.a. The DR TV series Ederkoppen and films such as Flammen og Citronen, Nordkraft and Steppeulven, and he has worked in the USA for a number of years, especially on the HBO series Banshee, both as director and creatively responsible showrunner.
Today, Ole Christian is co-owner of the independent Danish production company Creative Alliance, together with i.a. Per Fly and Lone Scherfig.

Niels Breining
BreiningConsult
Learning from the past decades
Niels Breining is one of the Danish TV industry's most experienced personalities.
For more than 14 years, he has left his mark on Danes' everyday TV life as head of YouSee, and although he stopped at TDC almost five years ago, he has not let go of his grip on the TV industry, where he often appears in different contexts..
Most recently, Breining was a member of the so-called Thomas Riis committee, which for the Ministry of Culture looked closely at the future financing of Danish digital content production.
In this post, "the old man from Jutland", as he likes to call himself, gives his frank view of the challenges for the Danish television market in 2018 - whether learning from the successful development of the market in recent decades can also be relevant for media policy and TV business in fickle streaming times.
Niels Breining
BreiningConsult
1979 economist in the finance department at Jydsk Telefon, Aarhus. 1982 head of the control and planning department at Jydsk Telefon. 1991 division director with responsibility for i.a. mobile, cable TV and telephony. 1995 director of forestry at Hedeselskabet.
